About Ferzana...

Ferzana is an Talent Acquisition and People expert – mostly within the start-up and tech sector helping build effective teams that have a honest, fair and collaborative culture at their heart. Passionate about equity and equality for women this led her to join a team of comms leaders to create PR Mums in early 2023.  Launching, with an incredible response in July this year, PR Mums aims to make positive changes for women in the workplace, to help them reach their career potential, keep women in the workforce and stop the PR & Comms industry loose incredible talent.

Session overview: Where does all the female talent go?

The PR & Comms industry is female dominated ( 67%), but when it comes to senior and leadership roles the balance shifts. Why? The impact of this means we have a gender pay gap, pension gap and a pool of incredibly smart, ambitious, highly skilled women who are leaving the workforce or not reaching, or staying in senior and leadership roles.

There are many reasons for this, but one prominent challenge is childcare.

PR Mums aims to redress this balance, by equipping women with a practical and psychological pathway back into employment after maternity / childcare, enabling them to re-establish their pre-pregnancy career trajectory and get more women into leadership positions within the PR & Communications industry.
