Grinning, Grateful, and Slightly Gobsmacked – by Georgia Cole
3 October 2025
I still can’t quite believe it, I’m a finalist for commsHERO of the Year 2025! It’s one of those moments where you have to stop, take a breath, and let it sink in. I’m beyond honoured, and honestly, a little emotional about it.
Even better, my brilliant team is also up for two awards: ‘All The Feels’ and ‘Best use of AI’. These nominations mean so much to us. They’re a reflection of the heart, creativity, and curiosity we bring to our work every day. We’ve laughed, learned, and pushed boundaries together, and to be recognised for that is just incredible.
The commsHERO awards are a big deal in our world. They celebrate the bold, the brilliant, and the brave in comms, and to even be shortlisted feels like stepping into a very special club.
I’ve been in Internal Comms and Engagement for over three years now, and it’s hands down the best job I’ve ever had. Every day is different. I get to work with all sorts of amazing people from across the business, and I have the absolute pleasure of trying to brighten their working day, whether that’s through a campaign, a message, or just a moment of connection.
And if I’m being honest… imposter syndrome is definitely something that pops up more than I like to admit. That little voice that says, “Are you sure you’re good enough?” But this nomination? It feels like a little nudge from the universe saying, “Hey, what you do matters.” And that’s a pretty special feeling.
Whatever happens in October, I already feel like a winner. I’m proud of the journey, proud of the people I get to work with, and proud to be part of a community that celebrates the joy and impact of comms.
It’s a huge boost of confidence, and a huge boost of joy. I feel recognised not just as a comms professional, but as me. And that’s priceless.
The awards take place in October, and whatever happens on the night, I already feel like I’ve won.
