We’re not crying, you are: Our team are shortlisted for TWO awards! By Kim Brierley

In a plot twist worthy of a Netflix drama, our small-but-mighty comms team has been shortlisted for Comms Unicorn of the Year and for our veterans campaign in the All The Feels category. Yes, really. No, we didn’t bribe anyone (we checked).

At a time when Local Government Reorganisation has brought more questions than answers for our team, this recognition has been a much-needed boost. Thank you to the #commsHERO team. It’s reminded us why we do what we do: to connect, to inform, and occasionally to make people laugh-snort at a well-placed GIF.

We’re a tiny team with a big heart, powered by caffeine, cake, collaboration, and a shared love of storytelling. Whether it’s internal comms, project updates, or working out which flag we should be flying today and at what position, we show up for each other—and for our colleagues.

Being shortlisted isn’t just about us. It’s about the power of teamwork, the magic of good communication, and the joy of working in a field where words really do matter.

So, thank you to those around us, physically and virtually, who get goosebumps from our story telling (their words not ours) and for those who can see our unicorn sparkle in what feels like an ongoing power cut sometimes. We’re honoured, humbled, and slightly emotional. (All the feels, indeed.)
