Glenn Bowley

Glenn Bowley is Head of Communications at the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Having studied and trained in journalism, Glenn crossed to the ‘dark’ side in 2005, working for a St Helens based housing association before joining Lancashire Constabulary in 2007. Having been an integral part of the press and public relations team in Lancashire, Glenn was seconded to the Home Office in 2013 to join Operation Resolve, the criminal investigation into the events that led to the Hillsborough stadium disaster in 1989, and was responsible for providing strategic media and engagement advice to senior leaders during the investigation and subsequent criminal trials. In 2019, Glenn joined the DBS and like many, in the early part of 2020, had to navigate through the global pandemic. Glenn is passionate about staff engagement and has transformed how his organisation engages with its workforce.

Away from work, Glenn is a dad of three young boys( (9, 8 and 2) and spends most evenings and weekends stood on a football pitch or tennis court. Glenn likes spending time with his family and at his spiritual home, Bloomfield Road – the home of the not so mighty Blackpool FC.
