He did it again ten years later, scaling one of the first agencies to work across paid, social, and earned media.

Most recently, he worked as Chief Engagement Officer at Ketchum, leading a community of practice worldwide to support clients with digital and social media.

Stephen has worked for clients including Amazon, ARM, BMW, The Economist, Salesforce, Microsoft, NHS and Virgin Media Business. Along the way, he has written and edited ten books including Exploring Public Relations and Management Communication.

He’s a former President of the CIPR, Honorary Fellow of the CIPR and a Fellow of the PRCA.

Stephen supported the CIPR is setting up an AI in PR panel in 2018. It has since published a series of best practice guidelines for practitioners. In 2020, Stephen co-founded Socially Mobile, a Community Interest Company (CIC) that supports and inspires public relations practitioners across the UK to increase their earning potential. It delivers management training to those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and under-represented and under-served groups.

He is also a third-year PhD researcher at Leeds Business School, investigating the relationship between public relations and management.
